zenthai shiatsu - focused intention therapy

Fluidity. Totality. Heartfulness.

What is Zenthai Shiatsu ?

Zenthai Shiatsu is a is movement therapy with a reputation of effective dealing with issues of the musculo-skeletal, digestive and nervous systems.

This bodywork system was founded by Gwyn Williams. With 30 years of embodied study of various bodywork modailties, Gwyn has drawn together elements of Zen Shiatsu, Thai Massage and some Osteopathic gestures to create this fluid and comprehensive bodywork modality. Woven together with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) 5 Element Theory diagnosis.

Zenthai draws on 3 traditional energetic systems…

  • Zen shiatsu – Traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture without needles (includes cupping, moxabustion and lifestyle/food advice )

  • Traditional Thai massage – releases muscular tension and energetic blockages

  • Osteopathic techniques – includes joint mobilisation, connective tissue patterns and fascial unwinding.

The integration of the prime aspects of these modalities and the creation of a safe, awake and caring healing environment, Zenthai has evolved to be widely recognised as an effective structural and energetic form of bodywork therapy.

Areas of concern that are addressed with this treatment…

  • lower back, neck and shoulder pain

  • digestive complaints

  • joint mobilisation

  • energy depletion

  • immune system function

  • stress support

  • pregnancy support and symptom relief

  • insomnia

  • and more

“On the surface we may see a creative form of bodywork integrating techniques and philosophy from Zen Shiatsu, Thai massage and osteopathy. However, at its core is an invitation to freedom. Freedom not only of the structural and energetic bodies but also, if we are adventurous enough, also the mental and emotional.

Experiencing true freedom is not about ‘taking on’ anything new but more-so about letting go of the traps and blockages within our body/mind that prevent us from experiencing our true nature – joyful and free.

It becomes the focused intention for both giver and receiver using tools such as touch, breath, movement, awareness and honest self inquiry that is not confined to a yoga mat or futon but each moment of our daily life.”
